Figure Painting and Portraiture in Oil and Acrylics

  • Figure Painting classes are designed to offer learning experience in painting the human body and portraiture. We will work from male and female models. The model will maintain the same pose for each of the two sessions during which proportions, concept of forms and anatomical facts will be emphasized.  Demonstrations on how to plan a painting, block in the composition, observe light, atmosphere, the colour of objects and colour of shadows. By  mastering the technical aspects of the medium you will gain confidence and skill in allowing the figure to emerge with immediacy.

  • Portraiture  is designed to improve the student’s ability to capture the model’s likeness and character. A variety of painting techniques will be employed.  Critical advice will be given on a one-to-one basis as the work progresses.

Learning outcomes:

  • Improvement in mastering the painting technique

Parry Sound Landscape Classes

Learn landscape techniques in oil, watercolors and acrylic ( colour mixing and perspective ) on 350 acres of picturesque landscape on lakes.   

Classes will begin in August 2006.
